Getting laid off sucks.
And not just the $$$ or the health insurance - but the way it shatters your confidence.
So here's a quick guide to getting your mojo back ASAP. Not through self-affirmations or mantras but through the 5 sweetest words in the hiring universe: "We'd like to interview *you*!" ⚡️
To get those therapeutic words filling up your inbox next Monday, here are the 60 minutes you should spend right now:
🤖 Looking for jobs is a waste of time and emotional energy - especially when technology can do it for you. So spend 5 minutes setting-up a Job Search Alert on LinkedIn and then let the bots do what the bots do best: Keeping you posted on the newest jobs - https://lnkd.in/gyPXZBu6
✅ Don't waste a second on resume templates or fonts - those barely matter and are subjective anyway. Instead, spend 10 minutes on the one thing that objectively does matter: Does your resume match the keywords in your desired jobs? To find out, just plug your resume and desired jobs into Jobscan and see which keywords you need to nail: https://lnkd.in/ghZYiZsv
📩 Once your resume is optimized, don't waste your time applying to jobs that have been sitting around forever. Instead, only apply to jobs posted within the last 4 days since that gives you an 8X edge over jobs that are past their expiration date: https://lnkd.in/gipChbz5
🤝 As soon as you apply, spend about 30 minutes searching LinkedIn to find someone on the inside who has something in common with you - mutual connections, alma maters, volunteer organizations, etc. And then reach out to set-up a chat and ask for a referral since that 10Xes your odds: https://lnkd.in/gx_r8cxB
❤️ And then spend the rest of your time focused on being good to yourself: Spending time with people you love and working on things you love doing.
Because even if you decide not to interview with the folks who want to interview you, that time will remind you of a fundamental truth: You rock. And all the most important people in your life know it, too! 🤘
